About Us

Here at St. Johns Lutheran Church

Our prayer is that you will be blessed and strengthened by the power of Jesus Christ, and that you will live a life of abundance in fellowship, joy and grace.  St. Johns is not just a church, we are a fellowship of forgiven and forgiving sinners who have found a new way to live as imperfect people in an imperfect world by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

Grace alone, Scripture alone, Faith alone.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” – Ephesians 2:8

We teach and respond to the love of Triune God. Salvation is for those who hear the Good News of Jesus Christ and believe it, for they have been given the gift of eternal life. God creates faith in Christ through the work of the Holy Spirit and gives forgiveness through Him. Our congregation accepts and proclaims the Bible-based teachings of the Lutheran Confessions as the correct interpretation and understanding of the Bible. These teachings reveal His Word as both law and gospel.

St. Johns has over 150 years of history ministering the grace of Jesus Christ in the Springfield, MN area. The first congregation was formed on May 15, 1870 under the name Leavenworth Norwegian Lutheran Church. Since that time the Holy Spirit has lead the people of St. Johns to active ministry with an emphasis on family, faith formation, and the mission of spreading the Good News.
